Kyotec Group were responsible for the installation of the external façade of the building.

As part of their works, they were required to install horizontal and vertical cavity barriers to the edge of concrete floor slabs and concrete columns to maintain fire compartmentation as per the building fire strategy.

Kyotec had a robust, well tested, system for the cavity barriers, but they wanted to provide further assurances to their client that the works were completed correctly.

Trident Fire Compliance were employed to carry out a programme of compliance inspections during the build to monitor installations, review records and provide technical guidance on installation guidelines.

Trident attended the project frequently during the build and witnessed varying types of installations.

The standard of installation on the project was excellent by the Kyotec team, but Trident made recommendations on how to accurately record the installations as part of a good operation and maintenance procedure and to comply with Regulation 38.

Each individual“section”of cavity barrier was recorded and referenced. Each installation had an installation detail sheet which outlined the type of installation and the necessary steps to achieve compliance. Each document was completed by the installer, reviewed by the project manager, and subsequently reviewed by Trident to ensure accuracy.

At the end of the project, the works were completed in accordance with tested design and there were comprehensive records of the installations completed in the building.

Trident provided a final report on the overall completion of the works and confirmed compliance to specification.
