When preparing a specification for a passive fire protection installation, Trident will outline all of the details and requirements of the system to ensure that it can be installed with ease.
All details and guidelines outlined in the specification will come straight from the manufacturer’s technical team, product literature and/or test evidence.
The specification will outline all the necessary checks to be carried out prior to the installation of the chosen system.
This could include; cleaning of services openings for firestopping or cleaning of steels for intumescent paint, measuring service separation to confirm distances have been achieved, recording paint thicknesses of primer prior to applying intumescent paint, removal of any non-compliant materials such as combustible insulation.
The specification will outline a step by step procedure for preparing and installing the fire protection system, including any specific requirements from the manufacturer such as fixing centres, additional sealants, or adhesives and finishings (such as tape and jointing).
The aim of the specification is to clearly outline; what materials are to be used, how to prepare for an installation, how to install the system and (where appropriate) how to record details of the finished system correctly.
