Fire Risk Assessments

Fire risk assessments are a legal requirement under the Regulation Reform Order (Fire Safety Order) 2005.

Our assessors are all trained, competent, and accredited with FRACS (WarringtonFire) and the Tiered Fire Risk Assessor Register (IFSM, Tier 3) to ensure the highest standard of competency is achieved.

We do not treat each building the same, or apply a “copy and paste” approach to fire risk assessments.

We take the time to learn your business, your building, and how you operate, to best understand the day-to-day risks and how best to respond to them.

Our professional background in fire protection and fire safety allows our assessors to provide a more comprehensive view of your fire safety measures and provide detailed guidance on how to carry out any corrective works.

We also provide post-assessment care to help provide any further guidance and assistance you may require to help you achieve compliance.

Fire Risk Assessments | Trident Fire Compliance

Why do you need a fire risk assessment?

As part of the Regulation Reform Order (Fire Safety Order) 2005, it is a legal requirement for the Responsible Person of a business and/or buildings to carry out a fire risk assessment annually to ensure that best practices of fire safety are being achieved.

Our assessments ensure that your premises is suitably safe to prevent and protect against fire risks and ensure life safety is achieved.

If risks are identified, Trident assessors can also provide guidance on how best to eliminate or reduce these risks to a suitable level.

Fire risk assessments review all elements of fire safety and fire protection including:

  • Purpose of building and occupants
  • Electrical equipment (mains or portable)
  • Smoking, arson and cooking
  • Housekeeping
  • Means of escape
  • Fire spread internally and externally
  • Emergency signage and lighting
  • Warning and alarm systems
  • Fire extinguishing appliances (manual and automatic)
  • Fire safety records and management procedures
  • And much more…

All of the above (and more) provide the building and its occupants with suitable amounts of fire safety.

Where these elements fall short, or are missing, recommendations are made on how best to reinstate them to ensure that life safety is maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Trident Fire Compliance can undertake fire risk assessments to small and medium sized buildings (less than 11m in height).

However, owing to insurance restrictions, we are not able to investigate or undertake assessments of the external cladding/external wall construction, which is now a requirement of fire risk assessments.

This section of the assessment would need to be carried out by an approved specialist appointed by the client.

Trident Fire Compliance does not undertake fire risk assessments of complex buildings.

Trident Fire Compliance can undertake all types of surveys and fire risk assessments (other than those stated above).

However, Trident are not able to undertake the 'destructive access’ element of the surveys.

This means that the “cutting out” of ceilings or walls to allow Trident to gain access to fire walls, cavities and fire-rated soffits/floors would need to be carried out by another party which must be arranged by the client.

The other party would also need to undertake any “making good” works required after the inspection.

Trident have worked with a number of contractors who can facilitate these works and can therefore provide recommendations to assist the client. However, Trident are not able to appoint these contractors as part of our works.

What our clients say...

"Trident's ability to cover the portfolio, their flexibility in regards to site attendance, their support during the initial discussions and scoping of the project, offering advice to Landsec and the installing contractors, and their general engagement throughout, has proved to be a key link in the ultimate success of the project.

As a result of the service provided Trident have been invited to play a keep role in all new developments around passive fire protection reviews and sign off.

I have worked with and alongside many consultants at Landsec and throughout my career and I would have no hesitation in recommending Trident to any organisation."

Chris Murray (Compliance Manager) Landsec

"We have been involved on a number of projects with Trident over the last few years and wished all compliance/consultancy companies were similar.

It’s always refreshing to deal with Trident as they have a very pro-active approach to resolving problems as and when they arise on projects.

As a fire protection contractor, we are often left in scenarios where we cannot install a tested solution. Normally this leaves us in a difficult position of trying to resolve the issue but being unable to certify the works.

When working with Trident they handle communication between the contractor and client and explain issues, often offering expert advice regarding robust details to achieve ‘best practice solutions’.

Always a good experience when working with Trident and I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone.

AFP look forward to continuing to work with Trident on future projects."

Andy Webb AF Protection Limited

"We needed to demonstrate that our fire protection works were correctly installed and were compliant with the manufacturer's requirements, as we didn’t hold formal UKAS fire certification ourselves.

The Trident inspectors were already known to us as they’ve been working in the fire protection industry in various roles for many years, thus they’ve built up many contacts such as NBC during this time.

Trident are flexible, professional, practical, have great trade based experience and understand that we have to provide a workable solution in our fire protection works.

Trident achieved our requirements and expectations in all cases. We would use their services again and often recommend them to others."

Steve Simmonds New Barton Contracts Ltd. (Incorporating Watergate Services Ltd.)

"We were looking to overcome a tricky solution to refurbish and remodel an existing single story building to become a mental health unit.

This required more stringent fire compartmentalisation that the building could easily deliver – hence a well thought through and ‘designed’ solution was required.

Trident's ability to work alongside our Trust Fire Officer but, more importantly, their willingness to design solutions (where off-the-peg solutions would not work) and take responsibility for that design exceeded our expectations."

Mark Maffey Solent NHS Trust

We required help with a report on fire compartmentation, design recommendations and inspections.

Trident's service is very, very good. The firm is reactive, helpful and responsive. They give clear instruction and communicate well.

As a result, Trident exceeded our expectations and we would the rate their service 10/10.

We will definitely use their services again and would recommend Trident to others."
