Service
Compliance Inspections
Not everyone is an expert in fire protection.
On construction sites, managers and supervisors have a million other concerns and headaches to deal with and fire protection is one of the big ones.
Let Trident lighten the load.
Trident will act as your professional eyes while works are completed on your building.
Our experienced surveyors will carry out on-site inspections of installed works to ensure they meet the standards set out by the manufacturer and governing bodies.
Where defects are identified, we will bring them to your (and your contractors') attention and provide guidance on how best to correct these issues.
By using our compliance inspection service, you can be assured that your passive fire protection systems have been installed correctly by a competent installer, and an independent, third-party professional (such as Trident) can confirm their compliance.

60+ Years Experience
The Trident team has over 60 years combined experience in the passive fire protection and construction industry and we are only getting stronger. We drive to be the leading experts in passive fire protection and compartmentation.
Why do you need compliance inspections?
Passive fire protection is built into the fabric of the building.
This is how it is designed and tested and this is how it performs best. But, if the fabric of the building is not built correctly, then putting this right can be extensive and expensive.
Passive fire protection systems have to be installed in a strict manner in order for there to be reasonable assurances that they will perform as required.
If important steps are missed during installation, specialist components are missing, or the wrong system is installed, then it could mean wider issues in your building and a very long list of remedial works.
Using a competent third-party accredited installer will always help reduce this risk, as the installer will be well experienced with the range of passive fire protection systems on the market.
However, mistakes can be made, and you as a builder or building manager may not be aware of these mistakes until it is too late.
How Trident can help
Assuring that your building has been built correctly is a major concern for builders, and with the new Gateway system in place (such as Gateway 3) it is going to be a massive hurdle to overcome.
The Building Safety Regulator is going to want every possible assurance that your building has been completed correctly and as per the design.
This is where Trident Fire Compliance stands out amongst the rest.
Our independent surveyors can complete compliance inspections over the course of the project and provide you with a final compliance report.
Combine this with your third-party accredited installer’s records and you have a recipe for success and getting through Gateway 3 to building completion.
When fire protection works are carried out on site, it is important to know that the standard to which these systems are rigorously tested is reflected in on-site installations.
Only by achieving this standard can you be fully confident that the fire protection system will perform as required in any potential fire scenario.
The majority of fire protection systems utilised in construction have a strict set of installation guidelines set out by the manufacturer to ensure that installers meet the above standard.
However, there are times where mistakes are made (or willful negligence) and this can mean that a fire protection system is installed to a sub-standard quality.
There could be many reasons for this but the most common one is inexperience or incompetence. The problem is that it can be difficult to determine whether a system has been installed incorrectly as, more often than not, a sub-standard installation can be made to look like a compliant installation.
It is only with experienced and in-depth knowledge of the fire protection systems used that an intrusive inspection can be carried out to truly determine whether the system has been installed correctly.
Trident Fire Compliance prides itself on providing a gold standard in compliance inspections.
How Trident compliance inspections work:
Literature review
We review the project literature pertaining to the fire protection system (whether it be firestopping, structural steel protection, partition walls etc) as well as any fire strategy documentation.
Contractor review
We conduct a thorough review of the contractor who will be installing the systems to establish their competency and ensure they will be completing, and recording, the works correctly.
Site visit
One of our specialist surveyors will attend site to carry out a thorough inspection of works completed so far on the project. We will meet with the builder and the installer to take them through the build.
Installation inspection
We will utilise the manufacturers guidelines and specification to investigate the installation on as many installations as possible. We will inspect every aspect of the installation from the materials used, the method of installation, and the overall finish.
Further action
If installations are found to be incorrect, they will be recorded on our OneTrace system and issued in our final report. If we are able to at the time, we will advise the builder and the installer on what has gone wrong and how to put it right.
Report
Every inspection will be followed up with a detailed written report outlining all of the positive and negative findings. Where we have found defects, we will detail them and provide guidance on how they should be put right.
